Lodewijk

Born in Amsterdam in 1920, Lodewijk has lived since 1958 in Ticino until 2007, when he died. Young and conformist painter free and strict at the same time, Lodewijk has devoted his life to art.
has written about him in a service for Dieter Bachmann the magazine "Du" (October 1988), that continues to Lodewijk was a "living contradiction", where the art was scattered everywhere and mixed with everyday life. The first solo date in 1960 in Milan and Zurich. Since 1969 creates a partnership with the gallery Bollag in Zurich who exhibit regularly in solo and group exhibitions in over 20 years. Continuously develops a discourse around the line and shape and in Ticino is an artistic expression of their own, just based on the geometry.
loves working through screen printing, wood blocks, shapes, repeated in almost hypnotic: work order, ripped the confusions of life or unpredictability of everyday life. The work presented in this exhibition, who want to be the prelude to a future exhibition, focus on the period more "mature", Lodewijk, its straight lines, on the thicknesses pure, clean the screen prints, monochrome reliefs on contrasts that create a poem focused "on décalés" white on white. Lodewijk
works are in numerous private and public collections in France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Norway, USA and Switzerland. Here in Ticino, you can admire, among other things, the large aluminum sculpture for the center of Lugano-professional Trevano, performed in 1982, and the window for the church of Gorge Lake in 2001.

Orio Galli

Born in 1941, Orio Galli held since 1968 the profession as a graphic designer with her own studio in Caslano.
Over a more than forty years of independent business, Orio Galli received important commissions and commissions, both public and private, in the canton of Ticino and also at national level (Federal Chancellery, Federal Statistical Office, Federal Office of Culture , Post, Pro senectute, the Swiss National Tourist Office), winning numerous awards for graphic design of posters, books, stamps, logos, corporate images, layouts espositivi.Membro for over thirty years of Company painters, sculptors and architects in Switzerland, is currently on the steering committee of the Chamber of Ticino Visarte. In recent years, responding to the spread of computer graphics, has rediscovered his passion for manual labor, especially for the use of pencils, pens and brushes, and began an investigation into the world of the primary signs (pictograms, ideograms and alphabetic characters). Hence the interest for calligraphy in its classical forms and contemporary, more freely expressive and creative, who teaches courses in adult education. He also recently opened the doors of his studio Caslano to lovers of this discipline. He exhibited his works regularly chart - calligraphy - pictorial not neglecting to devote himself to 'illustration and satirical drawings. Many of his works have appeared in publications of graphics in Switzerland and abroad. Her, among other things, the famous manifesto "land of Ticino artists."
According to him, over the years, through the stratification of the signs, Galli Orio came to a crunch and a cancellation of the shape and color that could have been a goal in some way, with no possibility of further developments. Second, just that has generated the need to find new markets, and prompted him to start again the creative path to the rediscovery of immediacy and freshness of the marks and colors in their multiple and virtually endless variations and combinations.

Philipp Vogt

Born in 1963, the architect Philipp Vogt exhibited for the first time his works in an art gallery. Interested from an early age the art and literature, before graduating with the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, she took courses in art and industrial design at 'Art Center College of Design (ACCD) Vevey and improved his training in Locarno, working in the field of precision mechanics. During his studies in architecture involved in the creation of an artistic work on a large scale (within the Academy itself) Felice Varini. Strengthened by this experience, Philipp Vogt takes his own path, starting with tests of illustration and subsequently interested in the work on the subject, the folds and the shape engraved on paper.
The collages and the lines become its new reference points. For him, the geometry creates peace and development leading to the regular forms of meditation, with the edge of the paper creates a line that is perfect for that intangible "essence of accuracy".
